Originally from Bordeaux, where she studied literature and culture, Sophie Herscher-Bousseau lives in Épernay, in the Marne region of northern France. After teaching for a number of years, she became head of the film department at the Grand Est regional council, where she has worked since 1999, in charge of short films, media education and genre films. She also serves as deputy mayor of Épernay in charge of culture.
