The Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival will, in continuation of its Eurogenre industry meeting days, be launching its first writing residencies, thereby contributing to the development of emerging creators in French genre filmmaking.
The Eurogenre short-film residency will be hosted by the Centre de résidence de l’écriture à l’image (screenwriting residency centre) in Saint-Quirin. The association La Scénaristerie will oversee the Eurogenre feature-film residency. Selected projects from both residencies will be presented during the Festival’s Eurogenre industry meeting days, to be held from 29 September to 1 October 2026.
Designed for screenwriters and directors with experience in dramaturgy, these French-language writing workshops will provide them with project development guidance from experienced screenwriters and other film industry professionals. This key initiative sets out to strengthen the genre film sector in France by supporting projects that require specific and rigorous development as early as the scriptwriting stage, the aim being to bring to fruition unique projects intended to be produced or co-produced by a French production company.
Eurogenre feature-film residency
La Scénaristerie has focused on promoting the screenwriting profession since 2014 and specialises in the organisation of writing workshops.
Following their presentation in Strasbourg at Eurogenre, the six selected feature-film projects (animated or live action) will be part of a week-long residency from 12 to 16 October 2026 in Châlons-en-Champagne, followed by a second week of work in Strasbourg in early 2027. The results will be presented in the first quarter of 2027 in Paris, at a meeting that will bring together filmmakers and film industry professionals such as producers, broadcasters, distributors and sales agents.
The call for project proposals will be open from 26 May to 16 June 2026.
Eurogenre short-film residency
The Saint-Quirin centre, which has been supporting filmmakers since 2011, is located in the heart of the Grand Est Region. It provides a working environment conducive to concentration and exchanges and enables projects to be monitored over the long term, in close contact with the region.
Prior to their presentation at the above-mentioned Eurogenre industry meeting days in Strasbourg, the six selected projects will be in residency from 27 to 31 July 2026 for an in-person immersive session, followed by remote support in early September.
The call for project proposals will be open from 12 to 28 May 2026.
