Halloween night in the burbs: imps, ghouls, axe murderers, child haters, etc. you get the drift, take to the tree-lined streets to terrorise residents. The brainchild of director Carolyn Axelle, Tales is a lavish anthology of 10 unique stories, directed by 11 top contemporary horror lm directors. It opens with a knock-out animated introduction sequence (Ashley Thorpe), then Adrienne Barbeau’s foggy voice narrates, interconnecting the segments with a slinky thread. Don’t blink or you’ll miss a few cameos by the greats, John Landis, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon and others. As a Halloween treat: Joe Dante as a suave mad-ish scientist in Neil Marshal’s “The Bad Seed”.
