A group of video-freaks are sent to retrieve a VHS tape in a strange place. When they get there, they find a dead body and a huge collection of tapes, which they start to watch. Bad move, the tapes contain a macabre surprise. The creators of bloody disgusting.com, the largest information horror website, asked each of six young directors, some of most talented newcomers to American independent genre cinema, to direct a found footage segment with a hand held camera, along the lines of Cannibal Holocaust or Blair Witch Project. If anthology films are trendy, then V/H/S is one of the hottest of the year, thanks to its directors’ reputation and the juicy buzz generated by the Sundance premier.
David Bruckner (The Signal), Ti West (The Innkeepers), Gleen McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs) and Radio Silence collective (Interactive Adventures) each made a segment of the V/H/S films, watched by a group of friends in the home of a mysterious collector, which is the central episode of the film, directed by Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die).
