Ténèbres is a work apart from the usual midi-minuesque type films. Surprising not only in the French context, it was also ten years ahead of Lucio Fulci’s transalpine fantastic genre movies. Claude Loubarie, of the Midi-Minuit II film club in Lyon; remains one of the movement’s most enigmatic figures.
