A nightmarish film, Litan is one of Jean-Pierre Mocky’s rare forays into fantastic cinema. Mocky’s work went from one genre to another, but none of his films are as disturbing as Litan, which follows a woman as she wanders through a strange place, fleeing the green apparitions emerging from the water. Mocky wanted to make a film of sensations, free from all constraints. The result won him a prize at the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival.
