The 2024 Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival:
poster, retrospective and other events
The 2024 Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival is delighted to unveil the official poster for its 17th edition, which will be held from 20 to 29 September, in all of Strasbourg’s cinemas.
Designed, as every year, by the artist Mahon, his fiery bold work evokes our main retrospective. This year our programmers chose to pay tribute to Australia, focusing on exploitation films known as Ozploitation, as well as films from the Australian New Wave. Both of these singular strands covered the 1970s and the 1980s and though they had different approaches to filmmaking, they often overlapped and influenced one another. They put Australian filmmaking on the map and still resonate today, in such films as Furiosa, George Miller’s 2024 addition to the Mad Max Saga.
The Festival is one of the year’s most vividly anticipated European genre events, bringing together emerging talent, genre masters and viewers keen to devour a variety of cinematic experiences. During 10 intense days of festivities, festivalgoers will discover an eclectic selection of new European and international features and shorts, classics of genre cinema, passionate master classes and exciting off-site events.
The first wave of films in the official selection will be announced in July and the complete programme, at the summer’s end. More updates coming, so stay tuned!
