The Man Behind the Mask starts off with the 70th anniversary of the birth of El Santo, legendary and emblematic icon of Mexican sports, cinema and culture, and the wrestling debut of his son El Hijo del Santo, or Son of Santo. This profile film tells the story of a legacy that goes far beyond that of the ring. From the recollections of his son and the family archives, a portrait of a father with a double identity emerges: one who was absent from home and one who was a hero at home. The film also explores what motivated Santo’s son to continue with his father’s legacy
