The Festival is delighted to unveil the official poster of its 18th edition, which will be held this year from 26 September to 5 October.
Designed by the artist Mahon, it is, as usual, based on the Festival’s principal retrospective, entitled FasciFiction. At a time when we are witnessing a worrying rise in authoritarian regimes, impeding certain of the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by our democracies, the Festival wishes to showcase dystopian works that have imagined bleak futures or have revived wounds from dark pasts.
Festival-goers will therefore be able to revisit or discover such classics as François Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451, John Halas’s and Joy Batchelor’s Animal Farm, Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, Liliana Cavani’s The Year of the Cannibals, George Lucas’s THX 1138 and Volker Schlöndorff’s The Handmaid’s Tale, to name a few.
Every year, the Festival is one of the most eagerly awaited genre-cinema events in Europe, attracting emerging talent, genre masters and audiences eager to enjoy different cinema experiences.
During 10 festive days, film lovers can delve into an eclectic selection of shorts and features, ranging from genre classics to the latest European and international productions, as well as attend thought-provoking master classes, off-site events and encounters with industry professionals.
The first group of films in the official selection will be announced in August and the full programme will follow in September.
