WAKE IN FRIGHT

Ted Kotcheff

A schoolteacher on his way to Sydney stops for a night in a small town in the Australian outback. Having lost his money, he is forced to stay in what is an antechamber of hell and witness the inhabitants’ thirst for blood.

In spite of a Canadian director, Wake in Fright is considered as a seminal film of Australian exploitation cinema. Its haunting and hallucinatory story continues to fascinate cinephiles all over the world.
