Although many members of the younger generation did not experience that ancient object called the VHS cassette, those who lived at the time perhaps failed to realise that its arrival on the scene was nothing short of a revolution. Based on statements from directors, producers, video club employees and collectors as well as extracts from films from the golden age of home video, this documentary goes back to the time of competition between VHS and Betamax cassette, a huge influx of X-rated films, rampant production of direct-to-video and fan films shot on Super VHS with a zero budget. With humour and a touch of nostalgia, Rewind This! winds back our memories to review the birth of an industry that knows no rules.
