THE FOURTH DIMENSION

World Sales: Vice Films

What happens when three visionary filmmakers are asked to interpret the fourth dimension as a higher plane of existence, one that will change the world views of those who experience it?
Harmony Korine (Gummo, Mister Lonely) recounts the story of The Lotus Community Workshop, where Val Kilmer plays Val Kilmer, a motivational speaker that spins the good to the down and outs of LA, with the zany babble of a New Age fundamentalist. Kilmer alleviates their suffering and inspires them to join him in a pretty pink world of cotton candy. The mother ship flashes overhead.

Alexy Fedorchenko (Silent Souls, The Railway) conjures up a brooding Russian scientist inChronoeye, who, obsessed by the past, has invented a time portal through which he can visit history. But his capricious machine plays tricks on him (or gives him a life lesson), and then does him a good turn by tuning in on the future.

Jan Kwiecinski (Cigarette Break, Incident) bring us a Poland under threat from an apocalyptic flood in Fawns. Disillusioned youth, playing at wild abandon, dance and ransack their way through an eva- cuated village. Then an incident jerks them into responsibility and they receive a gift – lyrical, surreal, a poignancy of near unbearable intensity – a glimpse of the Fourth Dimension is theirs.
