Animale is a blend of the monster film and body horror. Leaving genre aside, Emma Benestan’s second feature highlights a beautiful female character, as obsessive as she is touching, in a setting rarely seen on the silver screen. Further proof, if ever it were needed, that French horror cinema is experiencing a well-crafted revival.
