A murderer discards the bodies of his child victims, but hides their heads, denying families the right to bury their children whole. A quartet of brilliant actors balances dark comic irony with the deadly serious subject matter in this subversive film where laughter and unspeakable horror cross paths. But Keshales and Papushado’s teeth bite even deeper by pointing to a malaise which permeates the Israeli state as one source of inspiration for the film. An anxiety-driven fear of terrorists, kidnappings, feelings of persecution, intolerance, a machismo culture and a craving for vengeance are partly responsible for the extreme actions and reactions portrayed in the film.
