Five carnival artists are crossing the desert on the evening before Halloween when they unexpectedly become prisoners in a gigantic compound called Murder World. In the basements of the compound, located in the middle of an industrial wasteland, they fall victim to a perverse massacre. After a much criticised detour with The Lords of Salem, Rob Zombie, a new master of horror cinema, returns to familiar territory to please all those who have been his fans from the start. He lets his fetish actors loose on dusty roads and in damp basements, where they embark on a murderous odyssey, the violence of which is mitigated by an absurdly comic tone. Just like his first films, 31 is both repulsive and disturbing.
