Herra, a young Czech woman, marries Nazir and they leave Europe to live in post-Taliban Kabul. They settle in a large home with his welcoming family, but restrictions on women’s lives gradually lead to tension. Childless, an unexpected gift comes their way when they take in Maad, a bizarre looking child that no one wants. Then violent incidents occur that turn life upside down.
