IRRÉVERSIBLE – INVERSION INTÉGRALE

Alex goes to a party with her current partner (Vincent Cassel) and her former boyfriend (Albert Dupontel). She leaves them to go home alone and is assaulted in an underground passage. In 2002, this intense drama in which Monica Bellucci is raped in real time created a scandal at the Cannes International Film Festival. The film was told backwards. It began with an epilogue of the sordid revenge carried out by the men in Alex’s life, before weaving its way towards the film’s sunny beginnings.

Noé has now re-edited the film in chronological order, adopting the victim’s point of view more directly. Irréversible – inversion intégrale is more than a new version of a cult work, it’s a new and terribly contemporary film about violence against women.
