Bedlam

Nell, the protégée of the buffoonish Lord Mortimer, lashes the face of Master Sims with her riding whip during an argument over the inhumane conditions at the Bedlam insane asylum, which Sims oversees.Sims uses the inmates as an outlet for his personal brand of perverse cruelty. But Sims is humiliated by Nell and plots Nell’s downfall. With unusually vibrant dialogue and lavish 18th century period sets, Bedlam is a horror film with a social message, and on a deeper level, a study of man’s inhumanity to his fellows.
