Jess, mother of an autistic child, leaves her son behind for a day with a babysitter, and decides to spend the day sailing with friends. But from the outset, she is ill at ease and anxious for reasons she cannot explain. Then the boat capsizes in a sudden storm, but the group finds safety on a passing ocean liner.
Once on board the almost empty ship, they are trapped into a vortex of violent events that defy our notion of time and space. Only Jess understands what is happening … partially.
Chris Smith’s talent was noticed by Dan Films fol- lowing a short film he wrote and directed called The Day Grandad Went Blind. Subsequent to their meeting, he wrote and directed his first feature for the company, a horror film set on the London Underground called Creep, starring Franka Potente and Sean Harris. The film premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the 2004 Toronto Film Festival, as did Severance, his second feature in 2006, a comedy horror film.
