Camiel Borgman appears in the quiet streets of a smart suburb and knocks on the door of a middle-class family. He is brutally turned away by Richard, the father of the family living there, but his wife Marina agrees to offer him board and lodging with out her husband’s knowledge. Little by little, the new tenant will have a hold on this family, especially Marina, whose desire for this unknown individual becomes more and more obsessive. Is he a dream, a demon, an allegory or the very real incarnation of ourfears?
In competition for the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival 2013, Borgman is a blend of social satire, strangeness and subtle touches of black humour.
