BENNY'S VIDEO

Michael Haneke

Design sans titre-43

A teenager withdraws into the world of images. Armed with a camcorder, he films everything around him. From one frame to the next, his adolescent hobby turns into a horror film. Part of Michael Haneke’s trilogy of emotional glaciation, Benny’s Video scrutinises a society disconnected from the real world by a constant barrage of images. The infiltration of violence into the everyday life of polite society is a major recurring theme in the Austrian filmmaker’s work.
