A doctor voluntarily exiles himself to a Mediterranean island. He’ll soon be joined by the sole survivor of a boatload of migrants that left Africa for ltaly. The doctor names him Friday and teaches him the rudiments of survival.
Anca Damian, an award winner at the Festival in 2019, has skilfully appropriated Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe and made it her own, resulting in the lone traveller as he’s never been seen before. A psychedelic musical comedy, as luminous as it is nightmarish, and an accusatory political work.
