Two brothers receive a videotape from a desert cult, where they spent their childhood. They left to escape a mass suicide, which never took place. They return for a one-day visit to find that things are the same, yet they are not: no one has aged.
The Endless recalls the directors’ film début, Resolution, both of which relish in cultivating mysteries in the wilderness. But whereas Resolution is mainly a quirky film, Endless has far more thematic depth to it, and resonates emotionally, thanks in part to the nuanced, moving performances from Moorhead and Benson. About brotherhood and marginality, it’s also about the uncertainty of time and place.
