For those who were unable to attend last’s year screening of Jaws at the Municipal Baths, the Festival proposes an even bigger body of water this time around, with an inflatable screen set up at the Bassin d’Austerlitz to watch Jaws 2 . Jaws 2 is a direct sequel to the first and incorporates quite a number of its characters, including its hero, played by Roy Scheider. The attacks keep coming and this time Brody’s children are in danger. A French film-maker, Jeannot Szwarc, replaced Spielberg in the director’s chair, who was smack in the middle of shooting Close Encounters of the Third Kind . Having just arrived in the United States, he filled the bill skilfully and delivered a formidably effective and terrifying shark movie.
