Anna, a children’s author, and Nick, a celebrity chef, withdraw to a Swiss chalet to focus on their respective talents and, above all, save their marriage. The couple rent out their flat in Vienna to Mischa, who happens to be a dead ringer for their neighbour, who is Nick’s secret lover. The Alpine retreat then degenerates when Anna, injured in an accident, can no longer tell dream from reality. Some kilometers away, this confusion affects Mischa, a victim of mysterious misfortune. Animals is a gripping thriller that willingly exploits the power of belief: that of Anna, whose torment turns into paranoia, and that of the audience. Greg Zglinski’s fourth feature film is a waking nightmare that would do his compatriot Roman Polanski proud.
