INDEPENDENT VIDEO GAMES: WAR OF THE CONSOLES?

Round Table – Friday 21st September at 7pm at the Shadok

For some months now, Nintendo Switch has surprised everyone by hosting independent video games, such as Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley and Undertale. However, the console is not the first standardbearer to take on small projects: publishers have been competing for a piece of the indie-game pie for the last ten years. Hosted by online platforms, such as Xbox Live Arcade or the Playstation Store, games like Braid or SuperMeatBoy were able to leave their mark on the history of independent video games.

Three guests will be present at the Festival to discuss this subject: Nicolas Turcev, a GameKult journalist and author published by Third Editions; Oscar Barda, curator for the platform BlackNut; and Thomas Altenburger, co-founder of the studio Flying Oak, and whose game NeuroVoider has been added to Switch.
