In a remote Danish shing village, 16-year-old Marie, a girl of strange beauty, is diagnosed with lycanthropy, a condition inherited from her mother, who is contained by drugs and contained to a wheelchair. Marie refuses her mother’s fate and is ercely determined to assume her condition, in a community that turns against her.
Arnby shuns the cheesier codes of the werewolf subgenre for an intimate portrait of a young girl, coping with changes in her body and a new, hybrid human identity, inherently prone to violence. Viewers will engage with her, in this multi-layered horror film, metaphorically evoking the failings of a conformist society that suppresses di erence.
