After their son’s disappearance during the Tsunami in 2004, Jeanne and Paul decided to stay in Thailand. While watching a video of homeless children in Burma, Jeanne recognises her son Joshua, and is convinced that he is still alive. Paul is sceptical, but she decides to leave the turbulent city, followed by her husband, for the tropical jungle to look for their son. They encounter a world where drifting souls of the dead torment those who are alive. Four years after the formidable Calvaire, Fabrice Du Welz is back with a film that transcends genres., Sensual and rich in atmosphere, the story is a quest trip into a hostile jungle where western values go up in smoke, Vinyan is a journey inwards, a relentless plunge into a stifling jungle, somewhere at the divide between the world of the living and the kingdom of the dead.
