THE SURVIVALIST

The Survivalist addresses the subject of survival in a hostile environment on an Earth that has been devastated and left without resources. For the protagonist, every man is in mortal danger, and the only thing to do now is eat enough, stay alive and satisfy a physical need.
The post-apocalyptic sub-genre often takes a fantasy-world approach and shows heroes in search of an ideal, and Stephen Fingleton’s film is perhaps the rst representative of a hyper-realistic conception of the genre. The characters are reduced to their primary impulses, without manicheistic dualism and judgment being passed. The Survivalist proves to be a curious, even ground-breaking work.
