THE SAMURAI

Sales: Edition Salzgeber

Jakob is an uptight policeman living a dull life in rural Germany. One night he encounters a charismatic cross-dresser who brandishing a katana displays a distinct are for decapitation. Jakob pursues the mad samurai but undercurrents of attraction surface between them.
Surrealism and Klaus-Kinsky camp come together in this moody and elusive post-modern horror film. But at the same time leinberg has nely crafted just the right dose of reality into it to engage audiences emotionally in what turns out to be a quest for self. For in the bloody wake of chopped heads and an ambiguous relationship with a lunatic killer a lacklustre cop affirms a new identity.
