THE PROFESSION OF STUNTMAN

Thursday, 21 September
from 9:15am to 11:30am at the Vox

Action scenes have been part of cinema from the outset. Initially produced and executed by the actors themselves, for example Buster Keaton, they rapidly played a very important role in enhancing storylines. Audiences were quick to call for these spectacular scenes, thereby resulting in the creation of the professional stuntman. Nowadays, this profession is at the centre of every action scene. This has led to new jobs, such as stunt coordinator, otherwise known as the secondunit director. The new technologies – special digital effects, new cameras, new filming methods – enable breath-taking sequences to be produced. But in spite of this, the profession of stuntman remains omnipresent and has adapted to these new challenges.
