Poor Dastan. Instead of finding peace and quiet by going on a fishing trip with friends to escape his pregnant wife’s foul moods, he is confronted with a group of jackass gangsters and a totally unhinged serial killer.

This film could be described as a Texas Chainsaw Massacre revisited by a distant Kazakh cousin of Emir Kusturica. With a screenplay penned by a dozen co-writers and full of references, Sweetie… is a sincere and generous tribute by six Kazakh fanboys to the masters of genre cinema, and which even transcends some of their illustrious models to become a gore comedy classic in its own right.
