REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE

What could be more exotic than whale watching in the bay of Reykjavik? A group of 10 embark on an observation boat for what should have been a peaceful excursion to discover the Icelandic wild. But the boat breakdowns and the group is transferred to a whaler. Reykjavik has all of the features of a black humour slasher movie. But it is much more than that. Its ultra-realistic cinematography and under lying social context places this film at the outskirts of social drama. Júlíus Kemp studied film makingin the UK where he made the short film Happy Birthday in 1991. Júlíus left college to work as edit or on Children of Nature(1991) by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson. He was a co-founder of the Icelandic Film Company in 1991 and co-wrote, co- produced and directed his first feature film, Veggfó!ur erótískástarsagain1992.Hewonseveralprizesforhis short films Bardinn (1982) and Ak-Rek-Ak (1987).
