What could be more exotic than whale watching in the bay of Reykjavik? A group of 10 embark on an observation boat for what should have been a peaceful excursion to discover the Icelandic wild. But the boat breakdowns and the group is transferred to a whaler. Reykjavik has all of the features of a black humour slasher movie. But it is much more than that. Its ultra-realistic cinematography and under lying social context places this film at the outskirts of social drama. If you need another good reason to see this movie, you’ll find it in Gunnar Hansen, aka Leat her face in Tobbe Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Question is: will you recognise him?
