Spanish artist Raquel Meyers practices KYBDsloyd (Keyboard sloyd), or drawing by typing, creating graphics using the character set PETSCII, unique to early Commodore computers. In her work, the grid is the framework and the text characters are the instructions. A complete method of craft is stored in text using technologies from the late 1970s and early 1980s like the Commodore 64 personal computer, teletext and typewriters.
KYBDsloyd emerged from the C64 Swedish demoscene, a computer-art subculture of the late 1970s. Every key stroke is recorded and saved as an animation. What you type is what you get; there is no Control-Z / undo. If you make a mistake, you have to start over again.
