Seoul in the 1970s. The director Kim sets out to reshoot the ending of his last film to turn it into a genuine masterpiece, but given the zealous censors, omnipresent producers and actors with over-inflated egos, the task proves complicated. After the horror film, the noir thriller, the western and sci-fi, the eclectic Korean director Kim Jee-woon has made a hilarious behind-the-scenes satire on filmmaking. But Cobweb also offers a rare glimpse into the particularly dark political period of 1970’s Korea, and ultimately, fascinating insights into cinema and the work of a film director.
