EMELIE

On the evening of their 13th wedding anniversary, Dan and Joyce are waiting for the babysitter who is supposed to look after their children. Another girl comes to stand in for her. However, despite her angelic manner, Emelie proves to be dangerously perverse.

Drawing on a number of memorable works, the babysitter movie could over time become a sub-genre of the horror lm, whose challenge is to build tension to a crescendo and reach the point when innocent children are in danger.
This demanding and enjoyable film by Michael Thelin admirably establishes the full extent of the main character’s madness. The result is a particularly anxiety-ridden thriller.
