WALKABOUT

Nicolas Roeg

walkabout 300x420

An English girl and her small brother are abandoned in the bush by a murderous father.

An Aboriginal boy, on the cusp of manhood, ensures their survival and much of the film is told from his adolescent viewpoint. Roeg’s fragmented narrative blends reality with visions, memories, and history to create a magnificent hymn to Nature and an elegiac meditation on place and belonging, and on the irrecuperable past.
