A LAURENT MELKI EXPOSITION

7-24 September
12:00 – 8:00pm
Aedaen Gallery, 1 rue des Aveugles

Anyone who ever held a VHS cassette of a 1980s or 1990s horror film in their hand will remember Laurent Melki. For anyone else, this exhibition dedicated to the French master of the horror poster will provide an opportunity to discover a prolific, morbid and highly colourful world. Melki sees the poster as a trailer in a single image and describes his style as “allegorical and hyper-realistic with a tendency towards the maniacally artistic, as well as commercially incorrect”. He studied the graphic arts and is passionate about comic strips and the fantasy world. In the early days of his career, he worked with Hollywood video producers and quickly made a name because of his political incorrectness, producing cult posters of such legendary films as Creepshow, Videodrome, and Night of the Living Dead.
