Rie, a young mother, goes under ground into an exclusively male world to interview men employed in a tunnel boring machine. After an accident, she is imprisoned in an airlock alongside an expert and a young migrant.
The disaster movie is a genre in itself and can adopt different paths, especially the intimate or the spectacular. In Cutterhead, a particularly anxiety-provoking Danish work, director Rasmus Kloster Bro chooses a minimalistic and quasi-documentary approach. His few characters are never heroic or sacrificial. His simply observes a handful of human beings who are reduced to an almost animal-like state and have just one concern: their own survival.
