YAKUZA APOCALYPSE

Kamiura is a yakuza vampire boss who has become a legend. The crime syndicate sends him an ultimatum to either rejoin the organisation or die. He refuses and is dismembered during a ferocious ght. Just before dying, he manages to bite the most faithful member of his clan, Kageyama, thus transferring his powers to him. When he wakes up, Kageyama will make use of his new vampire powers to avenge his boss’s death and ght the crime syndicate.
This genre hybrid blends the Japanese tradition of yakuza films with fantasy cinema, but in addition to providing a mass of entertainment, Miike depicts a crisis-hit Japan and the end of an era marked by the disappearance of the yakuza code of honour.
