PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK

Peter Weir

The 1900s: During a school picnic, a teacher and three girls, ignoring instructions, decide to explore the strange Hanging Rock. They are overwhelmed by a sense of freedom and their own sensuality, which contrasts sharply with the Victorian codes imposed by their school. They vanish without a trace.

Poetic thriller? A mystic trip? Picnic at Hanging Rock is a perplexing masterpiece that eschews classification.
