A photographer travels through the deserts of the American West to take a series of pictures. Near a motel, he meets a strange, debauched and dangerous couple, an encounter that marks the beginning of a descent into hell.
In the form of a neo-noir, A Desert is a modern variation of the confrontation between civilisation and savagery theme, in the America of the great open spaces, terrifying and misunderstood, where regressive beings are said to live. With its strangeness and fascination with endless roads, and its neurotic characters, Joshua Erkman’s debut feature is akin to the work of David Lynch.
