World Sales: Stray Dogs
The DJ Flying Lotus imagines the consequences of an earthquake in Los Angeles. This idea, and point of departure, opens the door to a retrogressive, sometimes incomprehensible world half-way between experimental cinema and a delirious teenager tripping on acid.
Kuso, the shock film at Sundance, is one of those works that has an immediate impact because of their outrageous and provocative nature. However, this portrayal of chaos is doubtless less innocent than it appears. Steven Ellisonn, aka Flying Lotus, pokes fun at the vices and follies of his contemporaries with a sureness of touch in the use of music and images. At the risk of leaving no one indifferent.
