In the year 2000, the United States is a fascist country that holds a yearly, high-profile media event in the form of a cross country, coast to coast car race. The object of the race is to accumulate as many points as possible by running over people. Produced by Roger Corman’s New World Pictures, Death Race, a satire of the media-driven society, is a perfect example of 1970s exploitation films, irreverent, violent and lean-budgeted.
