Nicole and Annie were estranged from their mother after a bruised childhood. When she dies, Nicole returns to their house in a shabby LA suburb to organise the funeral. When Annie (Caity Lotz) arrives, Nicole has vanished, as will others who enter this house of secrets and repressed memories. Annie has intense dreams and flees after an invisible force attacks her. Then Stevie (played to a freaky hilt by Haley Hudson), a fragile, otherworldly psychic, reveals to Annie that the force is trying to warn her through messages that she must decipher. Annie then starts to track down her mother’s secrets.
Old-school, no CGI and carried by a strong cast, the film never reveals all of its mysteries. First scripted as a short film, Nicholas McCarthy developed The Pack into his first feature film, which premiered at Sundance in 2012.
