World Sales: Ravenbanner
Full-of-himself Makoy travels to remote Pulupandan to win back his pregnant girlfriend, but is quickly rebuffed. Determined together back, he looks for a pig to buy from the locals, as a surprise for her birthday party feast. But he manages to offend the deadly Aswangs or Tiktiks, shape shifters who morph into foetus-eating monsters when they want revenge. They attack the family home.
Shot entirely on green screen, with a beautifully crafted CGI-generated environment, Tiktik has a solid international appeal, but is firmly anchored in Filipino culture. It is the first of a planned franchise that will explore the Aswang monster mythology.
