Clo-Clo and Kiki are rival café performers in a small New Mexico town. Jerry, Kiki’s press agent, cooks up a publicity stunt that backfires: Kiki makes a dramatic entrance with a rented leopard on a lease while Clo-Clo is performing. An angry Clo- Clo clicks her furiously chattering castanets in the frightened leopard’s face, causing it to bolt in to the night, thus triggering a wave of evil that will sweep through the town. The cruel death of the young Mexican girl at her doorstep is one of the most written about horror scenes in the history of cinema.
