Curiosities exhibition

8 rue du Bain-aux Plantes – 67000 Strasbourg
Open from 2pm to 8pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 15 to 24 September

The Bain aux Plantes is a place of work and an exhibition location managed collectively by 15 authors and illustrators who have graduated from the Strasbourg and Epinal schools of art. Throughout the year, it welcomes visitors eager to observe artists and discuss their work. An exhibition on a novel theme is staged every two to three months.

On the occasion of the 10th edition of the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, members of the workshop will be pleased to share with you their love of the weird and wonderful through their new exhibition entitled “Curiosities”. With items ranging from paintings to comic strips and engravings to embroidery, it will showcase unusual items as a tribute to the books and films that have sparked their imaginations. Like the contents of 17th century curio cabinets, these pieces have been put together as an eclectic collection.

Sales of raffle tickets on the spot, with the chance to win original works and hand-crafted items.

A foot here, a hand there, with two faces or without a head or a tail, come and bring to life the creatures that haunt your darkest nightmares or inhabit your most beautiful dreams! With the aid of printing plates that represent the various parts of the anatomy, you’ll be able to assemble, like a jigsaw puzzle or an exquisite corpse, a figment of your imagination, which will be hand-printed before your very eyes.

Devised by the Bain aux Plantes artists, this activity will enable you not only to bring to life the creature of your dreams but also discover what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to printing engraved images, from conception to final form, and perhaps leave with your creation under your arm.

Activity free of charge / Sales of prints at pay-what-you-want prices / Workshop suitable for children on the Wednesday.
