SEOUL STATION

World Sales: Finecut

A homeless man who sleeps at the Seoul tube station collapses and dies on the street, only to rise up as a zombie. Soon the streets are swarming with infested attackers and the zombie outbreak begins. Against this backdrop, Hye-sun, already a runaway from home, is now running away from her boyfriend, who suggests selling her services online.

Yeon Sangho combines horror with biting social criticism of Korean society and class attitudes toward the poor. Seoul Station is South Korea’s first animated zombie film and it lays the foundation for the same themes that Yeon Sangho develops further in his live-action, zombie blockbuster Train to Busan.
