Ryan Guiterman was at this year’s festival to present his first feature film Canvas, in competition in the animated film category. Guiterman’s first film is a powerful play of contrasts where the cosmic meets the everyday, animation meets live action, all of which combine to form a fluidly beautiful horror film. Canvas is firmly rooted in New York City: it is a film rich in metaphors that exudes a sense of closeness to the real.
